The Reggio Emilia Approach: Creating Studio Spaces in a Home Child Care Environment
OUR JOURNEY
Inspired by the ateliers in Reggio Emilia and a recent tour at Simon Fraser University Child Care Society, Westcoast staff created a workshop to introduce the Reggio Emilia approach to registered license not required (RLNR) child care providers.
Building on these basic Reggio Emilia concepts as a foundation, we worked in partnership with three child care providers to take a first step to incorporating an art studio space and natural, quality materials into their everyday environments.
Moving forward it is our hope that this inquiry will be woven into the home child care environment, our own everyday practices, and that it will inspire child care providers to create a community of practice.
